What is a Moving Memoir?
A Moving Memoir is a video that weaves your life story interview with photographs, documents, and other memorabilia. Titles, images, documents and rolling credits are added throughout. The result is a beautiful, documentary style video about your life so loved ones now and in the future can know about you and your legacy.
Do you only produce Moving Memoirs for one person at a time?
Moving Memoirs are customised to meet your needs and can focus on the life of a single person, couple or even a family business.
When can I book an interview?
We aim to book you in at a time of your choosing.
How long after the interview day will I receive my Moving Memoir?
We aim to deliver the first draft of your Moving Memoir after 15 working days. Once you have seen the first draft by accessing this online with a password and link sent to you via email, we will make any amendments you may want. The final Moving Memoir will then be delivered to you on a memory stick sent to you by recorded delivery. You will also be able to download the Moving Memoir video online for three months, so feel free to make as many copies as you like.
How will you know what to capture?
It is only natural for us to forget details from our childhood, but memories often resurface when the right questions are asked. Part of interviewing includes great listening, and the right questions which can be left to us.

Can someone else be present at the interview?
Yes, of course, but please try not to be too distracted by them as this can disrupt your flow. We do also interview couples who would like to do a more conversational piece with one another.

Why should I use you?
There are lots of reasons. First of all we enjoy what we are doing and, more importantly, we know what we are doing because we know that if no person is the same, nor is their Moving Memoir.
Due to the nature of our work, we operate a very discreet service. Our interviewers have a full record of service, have cleared enhanced security disclosures and carry ID with them on interview day. Furthermore, we operate a strict in-house code of confidentiality and never use Moving Memoir assignments undertaken for clients for marketing purposes. You will not find us on any social media platforms. We treat your information as we would expect ours to be treated, that is with respect and confidentiality. Even scans of any images that have fulfilled their purpose in a Moving Memoir, are destroyed seven days after sign off of the final draft.

What questions do you ask in an interview?
This depends solely on the client. Some are natural born story tellers and can wax lyrical at length so, with these clients, our task is for them to stay on track. With other clients, the task of talking about oneself can be quite daunting so here we begin by gently asking curious questions. We can generally read from our clients’ cues as to whether they have more to share about a specific experience or whether they wish to segue into some other memory or opinion. We always encourage our clients to let us know in advance if there are any specific questions they would like to be asked, or areas to focus upon and even to avoid. We come from the fortunate position that we know of you and not about you so are in the same position future generations are when the watch your Moving Memoir.

What type of research do you do?
We can offer research packages on your family tree but for most Moving Memoirs, our research will extend to the time and place of certain events. For example, if you are talking about your secondary school, we will find an image circa the time mentioned and insert that into your Moving Memoir.
Do we hear the interviewer asking questions in the Moving Memoir itself?
No. Our goal is to create something that speaks directly to your loved ones so any audible questions from an interviewer will be removed. Those watching your Moving Memoir are interested in you, not us.
How do you ensure any sensitive information is not included?
If, after the interview and on seeing the draft Moving Memoir, you think you would like to have some sensitive information you may have revealed in the interview removed then we can simply edit this out. You will be able to view the movie on a password protected webpage and provide feedback and any changes or restrictions then.
What should I wear for my interview?
Please wear something you would be happy for your loved ones to see you in. The interview will be mainly filmed with you sitting down so please wear comfortable footwear.
Where does the interview for Moving Memoir take place?
We can meet in any location so long as it there is no external noise interference but, more often than not, the interview is usually conducted at your home.
Will I have to do anything?
We aim for you to be as involved as you like and for you to do as little as you like. It is up to you/
The main things is to share your thoughts, images and documents you would like included in your Moving Memoir.
How is payment made?
Payment is made via bacs or PayPal. We take 25% as a down payment to secure the interview and the remaining 80% on delivery of the Moving Memoir.
Who holds copyright to my Moving Memoir?
You do. Unlike other videography services, all copyrights for the Moving Memoir remain with you. It is about your life therefore it is your digital asset. Furthermore, we only use music which has been copyright cleared.
Do you provide any other services?
Yes. We also provide a service entitled Dostadning – this is the art of organising the material parts of your life so that if anything were to happen to you then loved ones would not be overwhelmed with your material possessions. This service takes care of all your digital assets, organising your photographs, digitising photographs, ensuring you have a what-to-do-if-I-am-not-here folder.
